Custom Soccer Uniforms: A Complete Ordering Guide for Clubs and Academies

Everything a club needs to order custom soccer uniforms: kit components, fabrics, printing methods, sizing, timelines and how to brief a manufacturer.

Ordering custom soccer uniforms for a whole club is very different from buying a few shirts off the shelf. You are choosing fabric, colours, crests, sponsor logos, player names and numbers, and getting all of it right across dozens of sizes. This guide walks through the decisions in the order a manufacturer will ask about them.

1. Decide what goes into the kit

A standard match kit is a jersey, shorts and socks. Many clubs also add:

Ordering these together keeps colours consistent, because every piece is dyed and printed in the same production run.

2. Choose the fabric

Most match jerseys use a lightweight polyester: smooth interlock for a premium look, or mesh panels where players need ventilation. Our guide to choosing sportswear fabric compares the options in detail.

3. Choose how the design is applied

For full-colour designs, stripes and gradients, sublimation is the usual choice because the ink becomes part of the fabric and does not crack or peel. Names and numbers can be sublimated or heat-pressed. See sublimation vs screen printing for when each method makes sense.

4. Get the sizes right

Collect sizes from players before you order, and add a few spares for new signings. Youth and adult cuts differ, so list them separately. Our team sizing guide includes a simple template.

5. Send a clear brief

A good brief includes your crest as a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG), colour references, the list of names and numbers, quantities per size, and your delivery deadline. The clearer the brief, the fewer revision rounds.

6. Approve a sample before bulk production

A pre-production sample lets you check colour, fit and print quality before the full run. It adds time, but it is the cheapest way to avoid a costly mistake.

7. Plan the timeline

Allow time for design, sampling, production and shipping. Working backwards from your first match date is the simplest way to set a deadline. For shipping options, read air vs sea freight for teamwear.
